Central Location Testing or Hall Tests


Central Location Tests (CLT’s) are ideal for situations where respondents need to have some interaction with a physical product – for example ‘sniff’, taste or touch testing that isn’t possible unless the respondent and the product are in the same place.

Using a central location saves cost on logistics and allows fieldwork to be completed relatively swiftly with many interviews occurring per test day.

Additionally, using a central location allows for a degree of ‘experimental’ control – such as serving samples of food or drink at a certain temperature or eliminating odors that could interfere with a smell being tested.
